The temperature is soaring and that makes the idea of preparing a meal next to a hot stove less enticing. And since I am eating alone, I just grabbed an avocado fruit, fresh milk, and palm sugar from the fridge, pop these in a blender for 20 seconds, and a nutritional cool smoothie meal is served. Can’t be any easier!
There are many variations to this recipe, ingredients like condensed milk, almond or soy milk, vanilla extract, vanilla yogurt, brown sugar, chocolate sauce, cocoa powder, etc can be used to tweak the drink a bit. I simply chose the version that uses the least ingredients.
Recipe for Avocado Milk Shake - adapted from About.com
– 1 ripe avocado
– 1 cup milk
– 1 tablespoon palm sugar
Blend all 3 ingredients together.
Pour and serve immediately.
- Avocados stored in fridge last a lot longer. As cold avocado is used, I did not add ice to the recipe. The finished product is thick and substantial as a meal. Add more milk to thin the consistency if preferred.
